One, two, three, wheeee

One, two, three, wheeee was the response of Ptolemy to take off on his first flight just over 3 weeks ago when I took him and his brother to the Falklands. Finally on the way back to Brize Norton to get my flight back, I’m getting ever closer to my own one, two, three, wheeee moment.

That moment has been a long time coming today. As I packed up to leave work today for the last time for a year, a colleague asked if I was excited to be starting my journey. “I started this morning when I left home” I replied. “I’m already 8 hours in”. Having worked it out on the train out of London, I’ll have been travelling for something like 36 hours before I land in the Falklands tomorrow, including the 8 hour stop in the middle to do a day of work.

Perhaps I am slightly lacking in sanity. It certainly seems that way as I contemplate my luggage which is bursting with various things I’ve been requested to bring back with me. Richard had better be waiting for me with that Land rover when I land.

Still, the insanity of going into work gave me the chance to say farewell to a lot of friends and colleagues. It also kept me happily busy, which is a state I prefer to be in. Very soon I’ll be arriving in Charlbury, from where it is a shortish taxi to Brize and then a long wait until the flight goes in the middle of the night.

One, two, three, wheeee and see you all in the Falklands.

  1. Venetia, read all your posts. Looking forward to future posts. Will share them with the children when we see them at the weekend. We will all enjoy seeing how your year goes. Ezhilvizhi wants a postal address as she needs to send some drawings to her Ptolemy x
